Changes to Weight Loss Program
We want to update you on significant changes regarding weight loss programs in the country.
Tirzepatide Availability
As of October 2, 2024, tirzepatide was removed from the FDA drug shortage list. After litigation by the Outsourcing Facilities Association (OFA), the FDA confirmed on December 19, 2024, that the shortage was resolved, with a deadline to cease compounding tirzepatide by March 19, 2025. A pending court ruling on the OFA’s injunction request may extend this deadline for OFA member compounding pharmacies, with a decision expected by early March.
For now, tirzepatide vials from OFA member compounding pharmacies obtained before March 19 can be used in-office and dispensed by these pharmacies until their beyond-use date. If the ruling is unfavorable, remaining stock as of March 19 will be available until supplies last.
Semaglutide Update
As of February 21, 2025, the semaglutide shortage is considered “Resolved.” The OFA plans to challenge this in court. Currently, semaglutide can be compounded and dispensed for 60 days, until April 22, 2025.
What Does This Mean for You?
We have secured bulk order vials available for purchase in full vial form:
- Semaglutide 12.5mg/2.5ml (5mg/ml, 2.5ml vial): $375 per vial
- Tirzepatide 10mg/ml (1ml vial): $500 per vial
You can purchase these vials through our app, with financing options available via Affirm. Orders will be processed after payment, with a delivery time of 1-2 weeks due to high demand. To ensure availability, we recommend purchasing your vials soon. All injection supplies are included.
Tirzepatide Self-Pay Program
Eli Lilly Corporation has initiated a self-pay program for Tirzepatide:
- 2.5 mg vial: $399 for a 1-month prescription
- 5 mg vial: $549 for a 1-month prescription
No prior authorization is needed, and these options can be prescribed by me with weight loss check-ins for the first 6 months, then every three months.
Other Options
Zepbound is now FDA-approved for sleep apnea. Wegovy (semaglutide) and Saxenda (liraglutide) are also FDA-approved for weight loss, with limited payment assistance available on their websites.
Membership Changes
Due to these developments, all memberships will be canceled as of March 1. Members will receive an invoice detailing payments and any medication due. BHRT memberships will continue. If you made an annual package payment, you’ll receive an invoice for services and any refund due. Each case will be handled individually.
Weight loss care can no longer be included in memberships. The costs are as follows:
- Consultations (4x per year): $100 for non-BHRT members, $50 for BHRT members
- Medical Weight Loss Check-In: $35 per visit
- Lab Work (every 6 months): $150 for non-BHRT members, $50 for BHRT members
Labs can also be sent to local laboratories for insurance billing, but coverage is not guaranteed, and patients will be responsible for non-covered costs.
Next Steps
We encourage patients to schedule a consultation to discuss options and create an individualized plan, whether continuing with Balanced Rock Wellness or exploring options with your primary care provider.
This visit is covered under current memberships.
While these changes are challenging, we are committed to adapting and providing alternative weight loss solutions soon.
Thank you for your continued trust and support.
Sincerely,
Landon Pettit, AGNP-C
