FAQs

  • Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, is a type of hormone therapy that has been practiced in the United States for several decades. This therapy involves the use of hormones that closely resemble the chemical structure of hormones naturally produced by the human body.

  • The bioidentical hormones utilized by BioTE, are designed to harmonize with the body's chemistry by closely mimicking the molecular structure of naturally occurring hormones.

  • The duration of pellet effectiveness can vary between three to six months, depending on factors such as gender, weight, absorption rates, and the initial hormone levels of the patient during insertion. To maintain hormone optimization and balance, pellets are typically reinserted two to four times per year. It may take up to two insertions before the patient begins to experience the full benefits of the treatment.

  • Before proceeding with pellet therapy, Biote Certified Providers conduct comprehensive lab work to evaluate a patient's candidacy. The extensive lab work allows providers to assess the patient's hormone levels and overall health. Subsequently, the provider will thoroughly discuss the lab results with the patient to ensure a comprehensive understanding before moving forward with pellet therapy.

  • During the brief in-office visit, which typically lasts only a few minutes, patients are escorted to the exam room. The insertion site, most commonly located in the upper buttocks, is numbed to ensure comfort during the procedure. A small incision is then made at the site for the pellet insertion. Once the pellet is inserted, a small bandage is applied to cover the insertion site.

  • Following pellet insertion, it is advisable to refrain from engaging in lower body exercises. Gentle activities such as walking are generally acceptable, but strenuous exercises should be avoided. It is also recommended to steer clear of bathtubs, swimming pools, and hot tubs, although taking showers is permitted. Once the bandage is removed, normal activities can be resumed.

  • Just as each patient's symptoms are unique, their journey towards hormone optimization is also personalized. The BioTE Method is tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual. The frequency of pellet reinsertion typically ranges from two to four times per year, depending on the patient's requirements. This customized approach ensures that the treatment aligns with the patient's unique circumstances and helps them achieve optimal hormone balance.

  • As pellets are composed of bioidentical hormones that closely resemble those naturally produced by the body, they undergo complete dissolution and absorption. This means that after the pellets have served their purpose, they leave no residue or remnants behind in the body.

  • While every individual's body is unique, it is common for symptoms such as fatigue, low mood, and sleeplessness to reoccur towards the end of a pellet cycle or upon discontinuation of pellet therapy. This can happen as estrogen and testosterone levels naturally decline, and the patient's symptoms may revert back to their previous state prior to undergoing therapy.

  • BioTE hormone replacement therapy can be continued for as long as you desire to maintain hormonal optimization. There are no set time restrictions on the length of care, allowing you the flexibility to continue with the therapy as long as it aligns with your goals and well-being.
